Rentals
There are many reasons explaining the popularity of self-catering holiday rentals, which is why Traveleden.com aims to provide you with the best selection available across Europe and beyond.
Europeans use the term "holiday" predominantly whilst "vacation" is the American version. Traveleden.com welcomes holidaymakers and property owners from all over the world and strives to offer the best customer service.
Whilst many property owners are willing to offer holiday home rental properties all year round, there are high and low seasons. The following guide provides an overview of when to rent self catering holiday accommodation starting with the countries that make up the United Kingdom.
In England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the holiday season is defined from March through to October. The hottest months occur between June and August although in recent years, hot weather has been prevalent in September and is affectionately known as UK's ‘Indian Summer'. In Scotland, there are a few Ski resorts such as Aviemore in Inverness-Shire and therefore winter rentals are available.
Southern European countries such as Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, Greece and the South of France have good weather all year round albeit with occasional bad weather. If you are one of those holidaymakers that are unable to cope with extreme temperatures that can occur in countries like Greece and Turkey in July and August, then consider taking a vacation between high and low seasons. The added benefit is that you are likely to pay lower rents and possibly cheaper air fares although this very much depends on demand as some airlines cut back seats during low season.
Head further south towards the equator and the Canary Islands offers almost unbroken all year round sunshine. For many, this is a welcome escape from bleak northern European winters. During the winter months, the temperatures and heat experienced in Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria are very bearable and attract a large number of holidaymakers. However, the summers months are particular hot and are to be avoided if you fair or cannot cope with extreme heat.
For avid skiers and snowboarders, November through to February represents the best months to book chalet rental accommodation in the Austrian, Swiss and French Alps. During peak season in the popular resorts of Chamonix and Tiges, it is sometimes difficult to find properties to rent because of high demand, therefore, consider booking early.
