Jack and Linda's Brighton

Run by an elderly couple in the arches of Kings Road, directly on the seafront, Jack and Linda’s is remarkably quaint and in the summer months its not uncommon to see queues of people out the door, all waiting to get their hands on a hot mackerel sandwich or some fresh homemade fish soup.

Combine a visit to Jack and Linda’s with a stroll around the Brighton Fishing Museum, which is free and offers a chance to learn about the history of Brighton’s fishing community, or perhaps just stock up before having lunch on the beach.

Brighton Marina

Located a short drive or bus ride east from the city centre, Brighton’s Marina is a superb haven away from the crowds, perfect for a short day trip.

You can enjoy people watching at one of the many waterside cafes and restaurants - which include a number of chains including Strada, Café Rouge and Pizza Express - , shopping at the city’s outlet shopping centre or perhaps go bowling at the large Bowlplex centre.

One of my personal highlights however is walking through the quayside and admiring the huge range of yachts and powerboats. There is nothing quite like seeing how the other half live. Water tours and deep sea fishing trips are also available from the marina. You can even walk up each ‘arm’ of the Marina, which offers wonderful views back to the Marina village, or, if you’re feeling energetic, following the undercliff walk all the way to Saltdean, a distance of 4.5km.

Louvre museum entrance, Paris

The Louvre Paris

THE art museum of the world and well worth a visit when spending any amount of time in Paris. If you're in a hurry, be sure to choose the artworks you most want to see carefully, usually the Mona Lisa, the Venus De Milo and Winged Victory to ensure you don't miss out as time can quickly fly by wandering through the wings.

Ticket prices for the permanent exhibit are 9 euros before 6 pm and 6 euros after. I'd really recommend entering the museum from the metro entrance or from the Denon wing along the Seine as the line by the Glass Pyramid can become very long. You can also purchase a Museum combined card to avoid the queues and save money on the entrance charges are a number of other museums in Paris.
