Travel Tips - Drinking in Brighton, England

Brighton is one of the most cosmopolitan and liberal towns in the UK. That, and the fact that it is the most popular resort on the south coast, (just 54 miles out of London), ensures that the city has a great culture for evening drinking. There are drinking houses to suit all tastes, from traditional pubs, to bistros, bars, and clubs; Brighton has it all.

You’ll get a great range of real ales including of course the famous King & Barnes based in Horsham. Other local based tipples include: Dark Star, Harveys, Kemptown, and Rectory Ales, all highly recommended by CAMRA.

For the ladies, you can wade your way through the complete alphabet of cocktails in many of the pubs, and all of the bars and clubs from an Afterburn to a Zombie. Drinking in Brighton is an experience for all to savor, so enjoy. But if you have your own favourite watering hole, why not submit your own Travel Tip?

KOBA Bar in Brighton

One of the nicer bars that Brighton has to offer, Koba is an award winning cocktail bar which features three intimate spaces including an outdoor terrace. You’ll have to register in order to access the two member’s bars, but upstairs you’ll find a fashionable crowd, live DJ on the weekends playing a mix of chill house music and superb cocktails.

Located a couple of doors down from the Waitrose supermarket, Koba is well worth tracking down is you fancy starting (or ending the evening) away from the usual haunts of West Street.

An organic oasis in the North Laine

Stock up on organic, local and fair-trade treats at Brighton’s Infinity foods, which is located in the heart of the North Laine. If you fancy a quick snack in between shopping the slices of cold vegetarian pizza ‘to go’ are superb.

Brighton Palace Pier

Brighton Palace Pier

Perhaps one of the most iconic sights of the south coast, Brighton’s Palace Pier is expensive and tacky but well worth a wander down.

Get some chips and mushy peas from the restaurant half way down, dodge the swooping seagulls and if you’ve got any money left from the arcades, have a slide down the helter skelter. Fantastic.
