Travel Tips - Essential-sights in Brighton, England

You cannot visit Brighton without taking in the Royal Pavilion. It is one of the most iconic images in the UK and its “Taj-Mahal” type architecture is frequently used to bamboozle contestants on various quiz shows. Built in the early 19th century for George lV as his seaside retreat when he was still Price Regent, it is now open to the public and can be booked for special functions.

The two piers, or one plus the remains of another, are also famous iconic landmarks. The West Pier, now partly a skeleton, is all that remains of the celebrated structure following the famous of fire of 2003. Preston Manor is another delightful sight to take in. Built circa 1600 it is a beautiful old manor house, complete with ghost, and you can take a tour around its 20 rooms decked out with their wonderful period furniture. Brighton has so many wonderful sights to take in, but if you have any favourites, please feel free to share them with fellow travelers by submitting a Travel Tip.

Strolling on Hove Seafront

To wined down after a hectic weekend of shopping and sightseeing in Brighton, head for the Hove end of the Seafront and continue walking west (away from the crumbling skeleton of the West Pier) until you pass the Meeting Place Café.

Regularly frequented by dog walkers and young families, Hove Seafront (and Hove lawns) are well recommended for a relaxing stroll and just to chill out in the sun (depending of course, on the weather!)
