While it appears the high-steet music retailers are diversifying or closing down the independent “Ape” shop seems to be going from strength to strength. Knowledgeable staff, many of whom dj and run their own club nights and a quality selection of cds, dvdss, books and gig tickets make Ape Brighton an essential to pick up the latest music selection or get the low down on the best club nights and gigs around.
You can find Ape on North Street.

Located in the south lanes Brighton’s angel food bakery keeps tourists and locals alike supplied with its wonderful selection of mouth-watering cupcakes. Expect bright colours and lashing of frosting in a cafe that feels like its been transported from the trendy Bleecker street in New York.
You can eat in or take away and they also serve a range of hot and cold drinks if you have room that is.

If music be the food of life, then a visit to Brighton would not be complete without visiting the small, but perfectly formed, Rounder Records. Pick up gig tickets, T-shirts from local record labels, the latest CDs and deep racks of Indie, rock and dance 12” records, or simply quiz some of the shop staff, many of whom are successful local DJs.

Perhaps one of the most iconic sights of the south coast, Brighton’s Palace Pier is expensive and tacky but well worth a wander down.
Get some chips and mushy peas from the restaurant half way down, dodge the swooping seagulls and if you’ve got any money left from the arcades, have a slide down the helter skelter. Fantastic.
