Travel Tips - Shopping in Brighton, England
Welcome to Brighton, shopping capital of the south coast. You’ll find everything you need here to satisfy even the most discerning shopper’s pallets. A choice of lavish department stores await including: Peacock’s, and Debenhams, with showings from Marks & Spencer, H&M and BHS. John Lewis are said to be prospecting the town for their first presence in Sussex.
Brighton is the jewel in the crown of the south coast resorts and carries a shopping centre to befit that status, but aside from the classy department stores and plush new shopping mall, there is the distinct and unique “Lanes” district, home of the quaint little narrow streets and studded with some wonderful clothes boutiques with elegant fashion wear and designer clothes on offer. But this really wouldn’t be doing the lanes justice, and both the North and South Lanes are well worth a visit, no matter how long your visit to Brighton.

You can enjoy people watching at one of the many waterside cafes and restaurants - which include a number of chains including Strada, Café Rouge and Pizza Express - , shopping at the city’s outlet shopping centre or perhaps go bowling at the large Bowlplex centre.
One of my personal highlights however is walking through the quayside and admiring the huge range of yachts and powerboats. There is nothing quite like seeing how the other half live. Water tours and deep sea fishing trips are also available from the marina. You can even walk up each ‘arm’ of the Marina, which offers wonderful views back to the Marina village, or, if you’re feeling energetic, following the undercliff walk all the way to Saltdean, a distance of 4.5km.
Combine this market with a walk along the seafront, stopping at Al Fresco for a drink while you watch the world go by.
