A famous haunt of smugglers passing through with their contraband landed on the south coast, Ditchling has mysterious past links with stories of witchcraft tales of ghostly visitations of the Black Dogs and the local hauntings of Nuns, Monks and a Saxon Chieftain. The village is rich in folk lore, such as the Hanging Post still standing on Ditchling common having magical healing powers if you have the courage to brave the ghosts of those were hung to death there.
