Voted the best seaside restaurant in Britain by the Observer Food Monthly Magazine, Due South is a superb seafront eatery serving the very best in regional and seasonal produce. The kitchen aim to source at least 80% of their produce within a 35 mile radius of Brighton beach, and their menus change on a monthly basis based upon the availability of seasonal produce within the region.
Expect moderately priced game, beef and seafood dishes including wild venison ravioli and roast fillet of gurnard with carrot puree, served by knowledgeable and friendly staff but be prepare to book in advance, as the small restaurant can quickly get booked up.

Situated just in front of the crumbling West Pier is Sunrise Cycles a rather sorry for itself bicycle hire shop, however if you can ignore the rust and the mismatched bikes, there is a lot of fun to be had
The owner of Sunrise Cycles is really friendly and all of the bikes are kept in a good state of repair. Be sure to bring some photo identification and expect to leave a £40 deposit, however note that there is no credit or debit card facilities.
For £3.50 an hour (or £8 for half a day) you can enjoy a seafront ride or perhaps even venture to nearby Shoreham – which is a good 6-mile ride. Stop for lunch or merely escape the crowds of the city centre.

If music be the food of life, then a visit to Brighton would not be complete without visiting the small, but perfectly formed, Rounder Records. Pick up gig tickets, T-shirts from local record labels, the latest CDs and deep racks of Indie, rock and dance 12” records, or simply quiz some of the shop staff, many of whom are successful local DJs.

Frequented but what feels exclusively like locals, the red roaster cafe is a real hidden gem and I suspect many with to keep it that way.
While the location doesn't make it the obvious of choices for a break when visiting Brighton, it's no surprise to hear it was voted one of the best coffee shops In brighton, and the red roaster has another string to its bow in the fact that they roast their own coffee beans.
Order a coffee au lait (which comes in a breakfast bowl) or one of the devilishly rich hot chocolates and enjoy people watching. The place is pretty serious about their coffee and the staff are really friendly.
