Travel Tips - Antibes area, France

The celebrated town of Antibes lies in the Cotes díAzur on the French Riviera between Cannes and Nice. It was more than 2,000 years ago when the ancient Greeks first christened Antibes the jewel of what we now know as the French Riviera, and it is still just as true today. Play-club of the rich, the famous, and the celebrated, it is easy to see just what attracts the creme of world society. The Cap is a place of beauty. Stunning scenery, sophistication and modern day living exist comfortably side by side, and both worlds enjoy fine dining in the well lit cafes and restaurants along the coast in the evening.

The old world town centre is a sheer delight, a trip back into yesteryear with its narrow streets and plentiful roadside cafes and eating houses. There is literally something for everyone here. Museums, wonderful examples of architecture, adventure playgrounds for the children, and the Petit Train. The train takes you on a short journey to Juan, and is great way to see where everything is and to get your bearings. Antibes is a stunning place. That rare mixture of sophistication, elegance and class, yet reserved for the everyday family to enjoy, engineered unashamedly as only the French can.

Antibes - playgrtound for the rich?

Beaches, harbour with lots of very big and expensive boats, nice old streets to wander around, bars, restaurants, covered markets.

It was the playground for the rich and still has a lot of charm and character. Nice old streets to wander and lots of shops for linen, pottery, glassware etc

The best beaches are here! Antibes Plage du Ponteil and Plage de La Salis. Juan les Pins is also another great beach and very close. Very safe for kids as its shallow for a long way out.

Lovely covered market to walk around close to the entrance to Old Antibes near to the harbour. Best to go to the market in the morning as it closes early afternoon

Marineland Antibes

If the kids are getting fed up with sight seeing and walking around 'another boring hill-top village', take them to Marineland for a day out they will never forget.

Located close to Antibes, Marineland offers a number of water slides and pools to splash around in as well as dolphin, killer whale and sea lion displays. Prices start from around 26 euros for adults and 21 euro per child, but family tickets are also available.
