Quite the reverse of most Provençal villages, Valbonne was built along the lines of a strict plan drawn up by the monks of the islands of Lérins off Cannes. The village is enclosed by fortified houses and counts 4 entrances, one on each side and making your way through the labyrinth of streets in the old village will take you to the 17th century Place des Arcades and the Hotel de Ville with it's 19th century belfry.
Enjoy a range of excellent restaurants, interior design shops and artist galleries or on Fridays visit on of the best open street markets which is sprawled across the villages tiny cobbled streets. Well worth a visit for those holiday presents.
