Travel Tips - Entertainment
From the sedate pleasures of a riverboat trip to the breathtaking drama of a helicopter ride, unless you're a complete bookworm, or plan to escape civilisation entirely, at some point during your holiday you'll be looking for some entertainment.
The following Travel Tips have been provided by fellow travellers and provide a simple guide to helping you track down the things to do and the things to avoid. So you've got no excuse but to dodge the usual tourist traps in favour of some serious fun and unearth the very best entertainment on offer, wherever you go.
The wide range of organic freshly-made food – from out-of-the-oven quiches to scrumptious salmon bagels and pastries – is also what separates this cafe from its lowly generic counterparts. Another feather in their cap is the reliable free wi-fi service that they provide, although you will find most patrons prefer to sit back with a light refreshment and an engrossing novel. If you are on a whistle-stop tour of the London sights, this chilled-out refuge – halfway between the British Museum and Trafalgar Square – is an ideal place for a quick time out. Also, try to pay a visit on a mid-week evening, when they host performances with some of the most accomplished jazz musicians the city can offer.
Pay a fee of £10.50 per adult (£6.50 a child) and lead yourself into the tunnel and underground where you will discover audio-visual and descriptive exhibitions of what Jersey life was like during the five years of German Occupation.
The best part of visiting the Jersey War Tunnels is that it isn’t a guided tour. You are free to walk through the tunnel at your own pace taking as much or little time as you like.
If you enjoy golf then you may want to visit one of the two Adventure Golf Courses which were the first of it’s kind to be made in Britain. The golf courses cover three aches and have numerous tricky obstacles which add to the excitement.
In addition to the go-karts and golf you can enjoy the shopping village and live entertainment highlighting the history of Jersey.
The Navigator Restaurant has an extensive food and wine menu so it shouldn’t be hard to find something that’ll make your mouth water. I highly recommend trying either the ‘Special Seafood Soup’ or the ‘Salmon Penne Pasta’ both which have large chucks of fresh seafood.
Word of advice: It is quite difficult to find a place to park on La Brecque du Nord as the street is very narrow and there’s often many people walking in the area. You may want to park your car before turning down La Brecque du Nord and walk to the restaurant (Don’t worry it won’t take long and besides the walk will build up an appetite!)
Opening times: 12-2:30pm 6-10pm, Closed all day Tuesday, Telephone: 01534 861444
